Study visit to the Vienna University of Technology July 10-14, 2023, Vienna (Austria)
The study visit to the Vienna University of Technology aimed at examining best practices in implementing mentoring and tutoring programs, bringing together experts and practitioners from the education field. Representatives of the PROMENT project had the opportunity to delve into the mentoring and tutoring system at the Vienna University of Technology, renowned for its effectiveness and the implementation of innovative approaches.
During the study visit, various interesting topics were addressed, including:
– Considering gender characteristics in distance learning.
– Involvement of women in the development of their careers.
– Activities related to establishing team deadlines for the timely and appropriate implementation of project initiatives.
– Exchange of experiences regarding the introduction of mentoring and tutoring schemes for students in challenging specialties such as mathematics and physics.
Of particular interest was the experience of Andreas Körner, one of the university’s top teachers, who teaches mathematics with the flexibility to adapt the course to students’ needs. Additionally, the Vienna University of Technology has established a student support service that actively collaborates with applicants with special needs. Career centers at the university provide students with the opportunity to choose a unique educational trajectory aligned with the needs of employers, even during their studies.
