On May 14, 2025, within the framework of the implementation of the EU Erasmus+ PROMENT project “Promoting professional education and active participation of students through the establishment of a comprehensive system of mentoring and tutoring in higher education institutions” under the scheme “Mentoring for IDP students” in a mixed format, the fifth event “Training on the topic: Leadership: from personal to organizational” was held.
The meeting took place at Petro Mohyla National University of Ukraine. The training was organized and implemented by the mentor of the Mentoring for IDP Students scheme, Tetyana Pustovoitenko.
The purpose of the training is to familiarize participants with the basics of personal leadership and responsibility for their own lives; identify participants with weak, average, and strong leadership potential; talk about organizational leadership and its main components; analyze the characteristic traits of leadership and the most important qualities of a leader.
As part of the first part of the training, participants were introduced to personal leadership and the principles of forming a leadership self. At the end of the first block, they took a diagnostic test of their leadership abilities.
The second block of the event was dedicated to organizational leadership: components of organizational leadership, types of leaders, differences between the concepts of “leader” and “manager”, the most important qualities of a leader, roles in a team, and the seven skills of an effective leader according to Stephen Covey.
The third block concerned interactives, which practically identify leaders among all those present.
All parts of the training were accompanied by a dialogue between the mentor and the mentee, and any sections were combined with the mentor’s personal stories, which provided an opportunity to understand all the material from a practical point of view.
The students gave positive feedback, expressing their desire for further meetings and collaboration.
