From data to discoveries or how AI is changing science: training was held at the ChNU as part of the PROMENT project

On November 26, 2025, within the framework of the international Erasmus+ PROMENT project , an online training for female students of the Journalism and Political Science majors was held at the Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University, dedicated to the impact of artificial intelligence on modern scientific research. The event was called “From Data to Discovery: How AI is Changing Science” .

The speaker of the training, Candidate of Political Science, Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and Political Science Tetyana Lushagina, shared practical approaches to the use of artificial intelligence tools at different stages of academic work. Participants learned how neural networks can optimize the collection and analysis of information, assist in the preparation of course, diploma and scientific articles, and support research projects in the context of rapid digitalization.

Special attention was paid to the following aspects of working with AI:

  • how to effectively apply neural networks at the stages of collecting, processing and verifying scientific information;
  • how to avoid plagiarism and maintain original thinking in the age of digital assistants;
  • what is an “artificial style” of a text and why is it important to preserve the human logic of presentation;
  • how to increase your digital literacy so as not to become a victim of disinformation or AI manipulation.

The event was held in the format of an open discussion: participants actively asked questions, shared their own experiences, and reflected on the ethical boundaries of using the latest technologies in education and science. Special attention was focused on the issues of self-realization of women in science, support for young researchers, and the formation of a mentoring community.

During the meeting, the speaker presented a selection of 10 free services useful for young female researchers: from academic search engines and fact-checking platforms to data visualization tools and automatic translation.

The event was held under the “Gender Mentoring” scheme, which is being implemented at P. Mohyla National University of Kyiv as part of the PROMENT project (“Promoting Professional Education and Active Participation of Students through the Formation of a Comprehensive System of Mentoring and Tutoring in Higher Education Institutions”). The initiative is aimed at developing leadership potential, supporting academic growth, and increasing the participation of women in science. The PROMENT project provides female students of P. Mohyla National University of Kyiv with a unique opportunity to join European mentoring practices, master digital tools, and acquire new skills that meet the modern challenges of the educational environment.

The organizers expressed their gratitude to the students for their activity and interest, as well as to the PROMENT project team for creating opportunities for growth, self-realization, and deepening the digital competence of young people.
