On November 14, 2025, a mentoring session-media case \u201cHow not to get lost in the media space?\u201d was held in a mixed format, which was conducted by experienced mentor Antonina Stanislavivna Koveneva, a teacher-methodologist of Ukrainian language and literature, an integrated literature course at the Mykolaiv Lyceum named after Oleg Olzhych, a lecturer in the educational project of the NGO \u201cZNOvU\u201d within the framework of the EU project Erasmus+101082696-PROMENT \u201cPromoting professional education and active participation of students through the formation of a comprehensive system of mentoring and tutoring in higher education institutions\u201d. At the beginning of the meeting, Galina Kosareva, coordinator of the program \u201cMentoring of Young Teachers\u201d, associate professor of the Department of Ukrainian Philology and Intercultural Communication, made an introductory speech, emphasizing the relevance of such an event in the formation of students’ information and media competence and implementation in further professional activities.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The goal of the training was to demonstrate the importance of mentees’ information and digital media literacy knowledge and skills in everyday life and professional activities.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0\u00a0 During the training, students discussed how critical thinking and media literacy skills help in practical life, learning, and practical activities of a future philologist teacher. Mentees also actively participated in the exercises: “Fact Backpack”, “Today’s Media Stories”, “Five Key Questions (Message Analysis)”, “Trifles”. Media cases on generating fakes for the Museum of Deception helped develop infomedia literacy and critical thinking skills, and the mentees also discovered the rules of information fast food “6 C + 1 G” and played an interactive game (with threads).<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0\u00a0 In addition, the students not only received valuable recommendations, but also actively participated in the exercise “Media on the Back.” At the end of the medacase, the participants received homework: to take an online media literacy test from the Academy of the Ukrainian Press (AUP).<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 So, during the event, the mentor created a productive atmosphere of collaboration: students openly provided feedback, felt involved and motivated. This partnership process of exchanging ideas and knowledge contributed to achieving goals and increasing the motivation of the mentee.<\/span><\/p>
