On June 13, 2025, a meeting was held at the Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University in the format of a mentoring session “Energy Efficiency as a Component of Green Technologies” under the scheme “Mentoring in the Field of Green Technologies” within the framework of the international Erasmus+ project 101082696 – PROMENT “Promoting Professional Education and Active Participation of Students through the Formation of a Comprehensive System of Mentoring and Tutoring in Higher Education”.<\/span><\/p>

The event is aimed at raising the environmental awareness of mentees through the example of successful implementation of energy efficiency projects.<\/span><\/p>

The mentor at the event was Denis Medvedev, Head of the Department for Effective Use of Natural Resources and Energy Management of the Department of Energy, Energy Saving and Introduction of Innovative Technologies of the Mykolaiv City Council.<\/span><\/p>

The session presented examples of the implementation of green technologies in the city of Mykolaiv, in particular:<\/span><\/p>

  • reconstruction of heating networks and boiler houses;<\/span><\/li>
  • installation of more than 14 solar power plants at social facilities;<\/span><\/li>
  • launch of an energy monitoring system covering 482 budget buildings;<\/span><\/li>
  • implementation of projects with the support of NEFCO, GIZ, Yellow Blue Force, MENLO Electric SA, as well as participation in the MCR2030, Covenant of Mayors, ICLEI and SUN 4 Ukraine initiatives.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

    The event demonstrated that energy efficiency is not only a technological issue, but also a value issue, closely linked to European priorities of sustainable development, climate neutrality and energy sustainability. Mykolaiv’s experience demonstrates how local communities can effectively implement green solutions, attract international support and at the same time shape a new mentality of responsible consumption.<\/span><\/p>
