About the training “Motivational lunch: from theory to practice” under the scheme “Mentorship of young teachers” within the framework of the implementation of the PROMENT project


On November 1, 2024, as part of the implementation of the EU Erasmus+ project 101082696 – PROMENT “Promotion of professional education and active participation of students through the establishment of a comprehensive system of mentoring and tutoring in higher education institutions” under the “Mentoring of young teachers” scheme, the training “Motivational lunch: from theory to practice” took place for students-mentees of the Faculty of Philology of the Petro Mohyla National University.

The mentor was Nataliya Kovalchuk, teacher of Ukrainian language and literature, foreign literature of the Mykolaiv Vocational College of Culture and Arts, candidate of philological sciences, honored worker of education of Ukraine, teacher-methodologist, media trainer, head of the regional methodical association of teachers of philological disciplines of professional pre-higher education institutions of the Mykolaiv region , winner of the All-Ukrainian competition “The best teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature of the institution of higher education” (2012).

The event was moderated by Olha Zhvava, candidate of philological sciences, associate professor of the Department of Ukrainian Philology and Intercultural Communication, executor of the PROMENT project.

During the meeting, the participants considered the specifics of the practical application of motivational theories, as well as aspects of the formation of motivation in the educational process, with emphasis on the formation of the individual creative style of the future language teacher.

The meeting began with an affirmation, which had a positive effect on the mood and work of the participants: both the mentor and the mentee.

During the event, the mentor and mentee performed various interactive exercises and shared their emotions.

Therefore, this event provided an opportunity not only to gain new knowledge about types of motivation, methods of influencing students, tools, methods of teaching at the NUS, but also to develop soft-skills of students, in particular, the skills of active listening, effective communication, team interaction, etc.

Note that such meetings between mentors and mentee students will continue within the framework of the project and will become an important component on the way to their professional growth.
